Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez has been a Mexican American actress, singer and songwriter for a number of years. Sara Ramirez was raised by her American mother and was subjected to a variety of racist taunts, which made her feel unwelcome. When she went to an event at school and was given high praise for her singing when she was in the ninth grade the young girl started to grow more confident. This experience did not just help her gain confidence but changed her goals in life. At 22, she graduated from New York's Julliard School. At the age of 23, her first Broadway show with Paul Simon's The Capeman, and her film debut You've Got Mail, were her biggest breakthroughs. In the Broadway original production of Spamalot She played The Lady of The Lake and was awarded the Tony Award as well as the praise of critics. The following year, she joined the ABC program Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Callie Torres and gained wider recognition for it. Alongside having a cult following as a singer, she also released her own solo album and a longer piece. Also, she's been a vocal advocate for LGBT issues.
